About Peak Performer
How’s it going…I’m Larry Maguire, a recovering entrepreneur, writer, psychologist and lecturer specialising in the behaviour and performance of people and organisations. I created Peak Performer to share research- and practice-based content on the learning and development of the psychological skills of peak performance. Thanks for coming over to check things out.
What’s On The Table?
On a regular basis, I’ll send you new content on the development of psychological skills (I also call them mental skills). Leaning on established theory and research, I’ll bring you high-quality content to help you develop the mental skills you need to succeed in your work and life — these principles are universal. You’ll also get content on how AI is changing the face of work. I’ll include some personal experience, opinions and commentary. You might not always agree with what I have to offer, but it may make you think differently about yourself and others.

Topics
Content generally falls into four categories and comes in the form of written essays and articles, podcast audio and video. Sub-topics include the sociology of work, personality, ethics, decision-making, goal-setting, artificial intelligence, resilience, mindset and others.
Leadership
Leadership is a key component of peak performance, whether leading oneself or being a decision-maker as part of a team. To be an effective leader requires understanding ourselves and others and the relationship dynamics between people and groups.
Motivation
What motivates you? What gets you up in the morning and through the day? Research from diverse fields suggests it is the the psychological concept of motivation of which there are two types; intrinsic motivation that arises from within, and extrinsic motivation that is generated from external sources.
Wellbeing
Can we achieve success in work and sport and maintain our well-being? We’ll see how there is little or no sustained success without psychological and physical wellness. On Peak Performer, we explore how this concept is inseparable from all else.
The Future of Work
A newsletter that explores the evolving landscape of work, leadership, and technology. Each week, I'll bring you perspectives from industry, research and popular media that dive into the critical topics shaping how we live and work in an era of rapid technological change.
