I'm Turning Off Paid
And an update to source for original essays
Sunday afternoon is a good time for contemplation and reflection. Things are calmer, there are no immediate demands and no pressure to deliver. So as I sit here at my kitchen table, I have time to consider my online activities. Spread too thin, comes to mind. Too much stuff in too many places, so time for some reorganisation.
The main purpose of this Substack publication was to make podcast episode production easier—to automate as much of my process as I could, because when you are one person, you need to be efficient. Trying to be in too many places can be counter-productive, so we look for automations and work arounds.
I’m not killing this Substack. I’ll continue to republish articles here and post to Notes, but the main source for content will be on my main site and will centre on two main themes;
Two Main Writing Themes
With that, I’m turning off paid subscriptions here - everything will be accessible for free. If you have been a paid subscriber, I’m very grateful for your support but I cannot continue to ask for paid subscriptions when this is not the primary source for my writing. Instead, I get paid when you hire me for business/career coaching or workshop delivery.
On AI & The Future of Work
I love gadgetry and technology…I just can’t get away from that. Coupled with my interest in human behaviour and performance at work, I seem to occupy the ground where people and society meet technology. The overarching question is, therefore, how can we meet the needs of human beings first, while getting the most from the technology we have available?
Too often we find businesses sacrifice human beings for the sake of technology. We listen too closely to the hype machine, develop FOMO, and become over-enthusiastic early adopters. We think that replacing people with tech is a good thing—at least some do—until we realise, well, actually, this tech is not autonomous. We still need people.
I think this is where we are in the AI and work conversation.
So in my teaching and writing, I take a person-centric approach. I advocate for technology but not at the expense of people. Human beings will remain the most important piece of the puzzle in a business, because people buy from people. Machines may provide efficiencies and some degree of predictability, but humans will still need to be the ones making decisions.
Woe-be-tied-us if we don’t.
Every Monday, I’m publishing a new essay on AI & The Future of Work, so if you want that first, go here now. Once on board, you’ll also get material on using AI for business, and content on personal development and the nine mental skills.
In summary
humanperformance.ie is the primary source for content.
Substack, LinkedIn etc. are secondary sources.
I’m publishing a new article on AI & The Future of Work here every Monday (republishing to Substack and LinkedIn)
I’ll teach you how to use Generative AI in business
All essays are free to read
I get paid when you hire me for coaching or workshops
I will finish up this Friday 19th December for the Christmas but will continue to write over the break, so keep an eye out for new content.
(BTW… I’m launching Dual Mind OS in January for people who want to achieve their work and business goals in 2026 - I call it Dual Mind OS because it is built on the Kahneman’s dual-process theory of mind and leverages Generative AI to help you get where you want to be - look out for the launch)
Ok, that’s all for now
Have a good one, Slán 👋
